past reviews criticized the fact that in assembling this machine, a drill bit and a drill would be necessary. That in fact is true. Who doesn't have these tools? Aside from the fact that assembly of ANY of these machines requires some basic mechanical ability , I will now list the POSITIVES that I have experienced with the Nordic Track GX 4.7 recumbent bike. First of all, this bike has 22 resistance levels. Very important. Some bikes just as inexpensive ( $350 - $370 ) or more expensive ( $500- $600 ) cut out at a resistance of 10. I'm at 8 and fully expect to go into double digits in a few weeks. ( I have some heath issues that this bike is helping me out with ). The pass thru is excellent. Also important if mobility is limited. The seat is higher than most and this feature was a God send to me. Lastly the seat adjustment (distance to the pedals) is easily adjusted with a hand lever...no knobs , getting out of the seat and " hows this, ok. well, can you move it a little closer " ? etc. One lever and the seat moves to your accommodation. Also the seat is very comfortable. Easy on the back and backside.
Motor was broken right out of the box & took five weeks to get it fixed. Then discovered that the heart rate monitor is worse than useless. Pulse readings went from 170 to 50 in a second, and continued to bounce up & down in this insane range. Customer Service told me I am at fault for expecting "medical device accuracy". Googling shows me that this is a known design flaw with complaints going back several years.
Terrible out-of-box setup experience. In the most sneaky and underhanded approach, this bike will not doing anything except go beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. for every button pressed when 1st assembled. The manual tells you nothing except you must register online to activate the higher level iFit functions. I just want it to set the resistance and see the mileage. I figured something was broke so I disassembled and found a broken wire in the wire harness(separate issue that it arrived broken). I had to re-solder!!! the wire into a socket on the harness. Still the d@#m thing would only BEEP. I tried calling customer service and they are not open on the weekend (extremely bad). So i went ahead and signed up for an accound on iFit. It came with 1 year free membership even though this is for my 80yr old father and he has no intention of using a smart phone or tablette. Anyhow after signing up for an account, iFit would not register the bike until you also put in a credit card for a reoccuring membership. I am not lieing. So i gave up and gave these thiefs a credit card number and finally it came up and said to enable your bike you need to "Press and hold the iFit button on the display for 30sec". You do this and the display wakes up and every button works and manual mode now works. I am so angry. Nowhere in the manual do they tell you the Beeps don't mean it is broke and even more frustrating is that they intentional refuse to tell you how to make your new bike work until you go online and give them a credit card!!! Shame on Norditrak, Shame on thier customer support, Shame on their Manufacturing for delivering with a broken wire, and Shame on Norditrak Management for feeling this is appropriate behavior.
I bought this via sears.com. However, when I went to pick it up, I sat in the floor model and quickly learned that my 76" frame dwarfed the bike. The sales rep was helpful in changing my order. I now have the 5.4 model that fits any frame - a good upgrade...
This is the third recumbent bike I've owned. Wore the other two out. I don't like to spend a ton of money on equipment, but I don't always go for the cheapest either. This appeared comparable to the others (mid range price and performance), but turned out to be on the low end. I was unable to view it in person (shopped online) before purchase. Had I seen it ahead of time, I would have gotten something else. The base is too narrow, so the display monitor bounces all over the place when in motion. The seat design leaves a lot to be desired. As a matter of convenience, I intend to keep it. It works ok, and that's enough for now. Sorry I couldn't be more positive, but it is what it is.
We bought in January and had it delivered and installed for us. At first we were happy other than the fact that they did not leave the book behind for our records. Now after 2-3 weeks the pedal has fallen off and wont stay attached. I called customer service and they claim they can do nothing but tell me call nordic trac
The bike was somewhat difficult to assemble but it is a good value. The locking mechanism for the seat rattles when you are on it but it is a minor thing.
