Great overall recumbent bike

past reviews criticized the fact that in assembling this machine, a drill bit and a drill would be necessary. That in fact is true. Who doesn't have these tools? Aside from the fact that assembly of ANY of these machines requires some basic mechanical ability , I will now list the POSITIVES that I have experienced with the Nordic Track GX 4.7 recumbent bike. First of all, this bike has 22 resistance levels. Very important. Some bikes just as inexpensive ( $350 - $370 ) or more expensive ( $500- $600 ) cut out at a resistance of 10. I'm at 8 and fully expect to go into double digits in a few weeks. ( I have some heath issues that this bike is helping me out with ). The pass thru is excellent. Also important if mobility is limited. The seat is higher than most and this feature was a God send to me. Lastly the seat adjustment (distance to the pedals) is easily adjusted with a hand lever...no knobs , getting out of the seat and " hows this, ok. well, can you move it a little closer " ? etc. One lever and the seat moves to your accommodation. Also the seat is very comfortable. Easy on the back and backside.

Garbage

Motor was broken right out of the box & took five weeks to get it fixed. Then discovered that the heart rate monitor is worse than useless. Pulse readings went from 170 to 50 in a second, and continued to bounce up & down in this insane range. Customer Service told me I am at fault for expecting "medical device accuracy". Googling shows me that this is a known design flaw with complaints going back several years.

Too small; cheap seat

|

I bought this via sears.com. However, when I went to pick it up, I sat in the floor model and quickly learned that my 76" frame dwarfed the bike. The sales rep was helpful in changing my order. I now have the 5.4 model that fits any frame - a good upgrade...

Keep looking

|

This is the third recumbent bike I've owned. Wore the other two out. I don't like to spend a ton of money on equipment, but I don't always go for the cheapest either. This appeared comparable to the others (mid range price and performance), but turned out to be on the low end. I was unable to view it in person (shopped online) before purchase. Had I seen it ahead of time, I would have gotten something else. The base is too narrow, so the display monitor bounces all over the place when in motion. The seat design leaves a lot to be desired. As a matter of convenience, I intend to keep it. It works ok, and that's enough for now. Sorry I couldn't be more positive, but it is what it is.

Poor install and customer service

|

We bought in January and had it delivered and installed for us. At first we were happy other than the fact that they did not leave the book behind for our records. Now after 2-3 weeks the pedal has fallen off and wont stay attached. I called customer service and they claim they can do nothing but tell me call nordic trac

Love it!!!

The bike was somewhat difficult to assemble but it is a good value. The locking mechanism for the seat rattles when you are on it but it is a minor thing.

At least pedals work

|

I bought this bike due to some shoulder surgery I needed to have. Since I wasn't supposed to be swinging my arm around. Everything works great on it, except for the seat. I don't know if the block to hold the seat in place was installed upside down or what, but the seat doesn't stay locked in position while riding. So, I'm forced to get off because the lever, which also didn't line up like explained in the instructions, is forced to be positioned in a way I can't reach it without hurting my shoulder. I have tried reaching out to the company (Nordictrack) with no response. I have to get off and adjust the seat three or four times every work out because I just slide back and forth if I don't.
