Great Unit- Now on my 3rd season with this snow blower. Excellent discharge- Throws lighter snow easily to 40'. Wet snow up to 12" deep a good 20'+. Zero problems to date. Don't know why everybody else has had such problems- Sound more like assembly issues & not mechanical issues. Only issues I have with the unit, it is a tad heavy for my wife & the chute obscures the headlamp a little. Overall very pleased!
Snow blower will only go in reverse; i have no choice but to push manually and it’s difficult; i don’t know the part number to the plastic bracket that the gear shift wire attaches. The picture is of the black plastic part that broke; the picture does not show the broken piece but that’s the one where the metal bolt engages to hold the shift cable.
Hardly any use and the cable mount for the F/R lever broke out of the plastic console which leaves you with ONLY reverse! What kind of ID10T engineer puts a high-stress part in a plastic console on a cold weather machine expecting it to hold up? Junk!
Brand new , just put gas and oil in it. Started after 3 pulls. ONLY GOES IN REVERSE!!!
I purchased my unit 2.5 years ago, with no more than 10 operating hours. I have a small area (500sqft max) driveway, with a sidewalk 60ft in length so my usage has been relatively small. My unit, as did others, was stuck in reverse due to the broken plastic support feature beneath the housing. As an engineer, there are several questions I have:
1. Why hasn’t the issue been fixed on new models?
2. Why isn’t there a repair kit available for customers experiencing this failure mode to purchase?
3. How long has this failure mode been a problem (a question I’m guessing that won’t get answered…I get it!)
As it stands, I would not recommend this product to my friends or family. The reason is because there appears to be a systemic disconnect between customer feedback and problem resolution response with the current design. The result is no apparent support for customers experiencing A KNOWN, COMMON FAILURE MODE!. The motor, and other functionality of the unit appears to work as designed, however, I can only make that assessment based on the limited use (originally due to lack of snow, but now it’s product quality..) of my model (PR271). I’m open to discussing my issue further with customer support if necessary. By the look of the feedback on the CS webpage, it appears like someone (Quality, Design, Customer Service) should take action immediately. Customers do have other choices (even if the designs are similar/same….)
It's worked well for a few years but today during a big storm it would only go in reverse. Same issue as most other 2 star ratings. Where the shifter cable attaches it is made of very thin plastic. Not fit for the application.
I bought a few years ago. Only used it 4-5 times. When I went to use it this year, I found it would barely go forward. The cheap plastic console had broken in several places (just like everyone elses). VERY POOR DESIGN. Needs to be redesigned. I hope they have fixed this issue on the newer parts.
