I did a lot of research on line at different sites before I choose this coffee maker.
Previously I had used the automatic coffee makers (brand names) and just could not get a good pot of coffee no matter what I did. Never hot enough and just a terrible bitter taste. My sister always used the electric perk. Her brand is Faberware. She loves it. After my research I decided to go with the Presto because of other reviews.
It is so fast in perking a pot of coffee. The taste is wonderful....you have to get use to how many tablespoons of grounds you want to put in for strength of coffee. It was such a pleasure to not have a bitter taste to my coffee. Very hot too.
Light comes on when coffee is done...unplug the pot and move it to a thermos to keep it warm. Other wise the coffee will keep cooking plugged in and then it will be too strong and get bitter. No automatic shut off but who cares about all the whistles and bells. Had those coffee makers previously and they just did not make a tasty cup of coffee. Nice looking and the best no bulky coffee makers on the counter any longer.
Researched for the best price...sears had a coupon on line and was on sale to boot. Purchased mine for $44.34 with tax and picked it up at the Sears store in Woodfield the same day I went on line and ordered it.
I will never got back to automatic again, and should have done this years ago.
Bought this coffee maker on Jan. 7th 2015 by Jan 29th 2015, it no longer worked properly. Each time I plugged it in, the light showing it was done perking coffee would come on and not perk the coffee. I had to unplug it, and hit the bottom of the pot for the light to not come on. Then when I plugged it in and the light was off, it would perk. Shame because it was a good pot for the few short weeks it worked. We only used it once a day. It's not like we were constantly using it. When I ordered it online I used pick up at store. When I went to pick it up, the box was smashed. I asked the guy who handed it to me about it he said, well, that's all we have and walked away. So I can't say with absolute surety that it was the fault of the coffee pot or the horrible shipping/handling methods.
I love this pot, it makes really good coffee and is hot like coffee should be. And stays hot for a while ,althou, the longer it's plugged in, the stronger and sort of bitter the coffee gets. The only complaint that I have is the filter that has to be folded over a few times, but I am sure that I can buy some simpler filters next time shopping.
This pot makes a great cup of hot coffee! I've only used it a few times so far but I really like it.
