Deep Fryer / Steamer

I am so pleased with this fryer. It has many great qualities. Light weight, easy to transfer to the outside, for fish fries. Clean up is a breeze, because you can clean each part separately. Perfect for french fries and okra for one or 15. The lid serves as as a shield when adding frozen items to hot oil. Since the basket, and heating element comes out for cleaning, the interior pan makes pouring the used oil (when cool of course) into your empty oil container by using a funnel. I do not like to store mine with oil in it unless I plan on frying in the next day or so.You can also use as a steamer. Instead of having oil in the bottom of the vessel, you can put water and place your mixed vegetables in the basket. Quick and easy. Great cooking utensil to have in a home. Also makes a great wedding present.

Temp doesn't reach advertised 375

Purchased because of excellent price and features. Very disappointed that temp set at max 375 only reaches actual temp of 360-365. When frying french fries reaching 375 is important if you want crisp not oily fries. I called Presto customer service and was told if it reached 360-365 that was acceptable and within specs. What? Then why even have 375 on the thermostat dial. All temps on dial are actually producing lower initial temp than on the dial, i.e. To get 325 had to turn dial closer to 350. I tested temps with an accurate fry/candy thermometer, which I tested for accuracy, and read 212 @ boiling. Very disappointed that Presto didn't seem to care or have any concern about temp not reaching 375. I would have given 5 stars if worked as advertised. In any case the lack of concern at Presto makes me Leary of warranty. I left message with Presto customer service supervisor as a followup second attempt to get help and resolve. Two days and no return call yet. I might return unit and exchange; maybe I have a defective unit. I also might return and try Farberware deep fryer that had high ratings and excellent prices. I'll update review if allowed and if temp issue gets resolved. :-(
