I just purchased this machine from the Army / Air Force Exchange and have had it in my home for just a few days now. I'm absolutely sure that the first review was submitted by a troll, because with out a doubt this is an excellent machine if you're interested in improving your lung capacity, strength, and endurance. I own a Vectra VX-38, AFG 7.1AT Treadmill, and a Free Motion Dual Cable Cross Trainer Commercial... the ProForm is of the same caliber and will give you the workout that you want, particularly for your stamina and the strength of your legs and core at a much faster rate... something my other machines can't provide. Cardio HIIT vs Treadmill... I'd pick the Cardio HIIT anytime... less impact and a whole lot more fun. My only suggestion is... if you're a walker, take your time with the Cardio HIIT to build yourself up, your first few days are bound to be a challenge. If you already have great lungs, strong legs (especially your "rectus femoris")... have at it.
All in all this has been a pretty awful experience. I ordered the machine and paid for Sears installation. The machine was delivered as promised but the delivery person insisted installation was not included. I called Customer Service and they also said no installation. I told them to look at my receipt and the extra charges and they tried to tell me those were shipping charges. I responded that the promo I bought it under offered ************* so that was not true. They finally agreed and sent someone by to install it several days later. That individual was very late and showed up at my house at 8pm instead of the 12-4 window that was originally promised. They then spent over 2 hours installing the machine. At that point, although a headache, I now had the machine I wanted installed. That was great for a few weeks until the resistance mechanism stopped working. I have now spent 2 weeks going back and forth with Pro Form and have even shared a video with them demonstrating the faulty equipment. Instead of honoring the warranty, they are asking me to take the equipment apart "AS DEMONSTRATED IN THE EXPLODED DIAGRAM IN THE MANUAL"!!! Seriously? That's a major operation and I can't fathom why this burden is on me instead of them sending a tech by or replacing the item under the term of the warranty. This has been an abject failure from start to end from Sears' to Proform. I wouldn't buy this item or any other Proform item again and I probably will not ever use Sears again.
This is an awesome workout. Already sore after just a few days. There are lots of reviews that mention squeaking and loud noise. I actually had the same problem after the first few minutes. I was very annoyed at the beginning and super frustrated with the loudness. HOWEVER I went in and tried to isolate the issue. Turns out a few of the bolts on the stabilizer were way too tight. After just a touch of slight loosening I have not more noise and squeaking. Clearly this is just my experience but I figured I’d mention for anybody else who encounters this. I will update in a few weeks if anything changes.
The product is really good but delivered with making noise. Called the manufacturer to perform the repairs. If the repairs are not done in next 5 business days, I will have to return the equipment. It was delivered 10 days ago.
I would have given the item a 5 stars because it is excellent in getting back into shape. It just makes too much noise when in use. I have tried several times contacting ProForm with no success. My question is what kind of lubricant can I use to stop the noise..
I decided to buy this product because I was hoping that Proform would have worked out the issues with this machine, but I should have listened to the reviews regarding squeaking and poor customer service/support and stayed away. After only a few uses, the machine went from being basically silent to squeaking worse than an unoiled Tin Man running down the yellow brick road during a heatwave.
I used the Proform website to submit a request for support (several times), and it's been a week and a half and I have not heard a peep from them- not a good sign.
It's really disappointing to spend (waste?) so much money on a machine and then have problems right from the start, only to reach out to the manufacturer--who supposedly warrants the machine for several years--and realize that the warranty is worthless if the company never responds.
The machine does provide an excellent workout, and that's even without going all the way up to the highest level (even level 12 of 24 is fairly rigorous). It is also pretty easy on my joints. But, the squeaking is so loud it makes me not want to use the machine; it's loud enough to interfere with watching television or listening to music. Also, the heart rate monitor is useless. I don't think I've seen it go above 100 BPM (and I know for sure my heart rate is way higher).
My advice is to find another machine/manufacturer.
Pro form compact elliptical started making horrible sounds 5 months into ownership. I tried calling for warranty help but no one would return calls. When I figured out email it took over two months to convince them to send someone out. Now it's 6 months since I initially made contact and it is still apart in pieces and non operational and today I got a notice a part order was created yesterday. This is after I called Nebraska Furniture Mart where I bought it and told them I am filing a complaint with the KS Attorney General. Worst Customer Service. Ever.
