How to remove the battery shroud from a Sears 19" mower model 247.370480?

The battery shroud is held on with some screws and washers that attach to the bottom of the shroud from underneath. You probably need to turn the lawnmower on its side to find and remove the screws.

I have this model too, and I could not find any screws underneath. Instead, I discovered that the shroud is held on by 4 plastic posts, which are accessed by 4 small holes (2 on each side). I used a large screwdriver to push through the holes and (with a lot of pulling and tugging) I was able to loosen the plastic attachers from what they are attached to (I don't know the names for these parts) without breaking them. The post in the rear next to the bar on the left side of the mower was the hardest to free up. I suspect that Sears technicians have a special tool that makes this easy. Anyway, once you get it open, replacing the battery units is very easy (be sure to put a new cable tie around them), and the shroud goes back on very easily. I just dread the next time I need to open it, but apparently these batteries don't last more than a year with my heavy use (we have a large lawn).
