Without a model number, I can only give you general information. If the washer is a top load washer, please use the following information. The F1 error code indicates that the water level pressure transducer signal is out of range on the machine control board. A pinched or kinked air pressure hose between the bottom of the washer tub and the connection on the machine control board can cause this. A failed control board (the pressure transducer is integrated into the machine control board) can also cause it.
unplugging the washer
and checking the air pressure hose between the bottom of the tub and the machine control first. The procedure for accessing this component is shown in the first image below. The second image shows the procedure for accessing the machine control board in the console. Check the hose and the connection to the machine control. If you find a kink or bad connection, resolve it and reassemble the washer. Run a cycle to see if the F1 error code reappears. This may fix your problem. If the F1 code continues and you have no problems with the air pressure hose, then the machine control board will need to be replaced.
The second image below shows the procedure for replacing the machine control board.
Be sure to unplug the washer before accessing internal components.
You can order a new machine control board from the Sears PartsDirect website
. Once this problem is resolved, it should not recur.
