Whirlpool duet washer is throwing a F11 fault code in the middle of a wash cycle. HELP!

I have a 2004 Whirlpool Duet ht washer ( model # GHW9460PWO) that is giving a F11 fault code randomly at different times during a wash cycle. It happens about 50% of the wash cycles. I had a NON Sears technician come out and tell me that it could be a any number of a set of issues. Communication between the two control boards is the problem, which could indicate the board(s) or the wiring harness. According to the tech, he said there is no way to tell what exactly the solution is. He would just have to start replacing parts at random order and hope for the best. By the end of it, we could be in $650 in parts, and $150 in labor which is a VERY reasonable labor charge for the work. I have used this tech before in the past and have always been pleased with his expertise, but I'm looking to see if there is a way to accurately diagnose which computer or wiring harness is the problem before I give up on repairing this problem and just buy a new washer.

The problem is intermittent because there are relays on the CCU that carbonize over time and slowly lose their electrical conductivity. I've never seen a problem in the wiring harness of these's always the CCU or the MCU.
