How to fix constant refrigerator door alarm beeping?
Report This
My Kenmore Elite Trio Model #795.78546.800 is beeping constantly like the doors are open. The doors aren't open and we have checked the air flow vents and made sure no food is blocking them. We have also unplugged the fridge for about 5 minutes and still no luck. It seems that the upper area of the fridge is not cooling as well as it should either. Does anyone know what the problem might be? We have to turn the alarm off to get it to stop beeping but I more concerned about the cooling in the fridge section seeming to be less effective. ??????

When it comes to a beeping appliance all we can think about is how to trouble shoot this appliance. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, I found your owners manual in the Manage My Life website. I have attached the link below. Have a nice day!

Hi,
Thank you for your question. It is concerning when the refrigerator is not functioning correctly. If the fresh food section lights are working, meaning you can get the lights to go off when the light switch is pressed, the problem would be that the thermistor is warning of high temperature in the compartment. The freezer fan motor would need to be checked to make sure there motor is blowing air into the fresh food section.
On the other hand the fresh food door switch could be inoperative and the unit will not cool a section with a open door. This is for energy savings. If this is the case the switches will need to be ohmed from the main control board, with the door open and closed. If you would like to do the test reply to this thread and I will gladly assist you.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.

Yes, I would like more info to do the test. The food in the drawers is keeping cold...it is the large main compartment that holds drinks and larger items that is starting to feel warmer. That and of course the constant beeping are the two main issues. Have kep checking the freezer and crisper drawers and they are at their normal temperatures.

Alright, the first thing you need is to have a volts ohm meter and locate the main control board. It is on the top of the refrigerator behind a panel or it is on the rear of the refrigerator behind a panel. Unplug the refrigerator and using the meter check the 2 grey wires on con6. Open the door and the circuit should open and close the door and circuit should close to 0 ohms. If that checks out ok, check the ohms reading on con blue to blue.
37 deg, which is a normal temperature, should be about 2.7 c and that is equal to 27k ohms. Reply back to me with the reading.
