White powder residue after dispensing ice from Kenmore Elite Fridge 106.54606300

Everything seems to work, but I have this white powder that also comes out of the ice maker. The ice cubes similarly have this powdery texture and look. What could be causing this? Thanks!

I see other comments saying that they do not believe that this is the result of hard water. Some say it’s some fault in the make up of the ice maker. Is there an update to your assessment of this issue?

I have seen this from bagged ice you buy in the store as well. My research has all come to the conclusion it's calcium.

we have experienced the same problem with our expensive Elite refrigerator and we, too, do not recommend Sears products any more. So very disappointing. They used to be the best but not anymore.
