Hello Mr. James.
I'm sorry to hear that your television will not turn on and I would like to assist you. The CRT tube that your television utilizes requires very high voltages to be driven correctly. Many times when a set will not start up and attempts several times, the high voltage is not developed, or the horizontal or vertical deflection has failed and the set will not turn on.
It is very important to not open the television for safety reasons!
It is highly advisable for you to have an experienced electronics technician perform the diagnosis and repair.
Sears Home Services
is a link to arrange a Sears service technician to perform the repair, or you may call 800-469-4663.
There is another issue, these sets will usually require a complete board assembly to be installed and at this time, there are very few parts available. This will leave the only option as a board rebuild and that can range from $340 on up, plus labor to install. You may want to consider replacing the TV at this point.
Please let me know if you would like any further assistance.
