I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your refrigerator. There are several things that can cause a build up of ice on the evaporator. first check the gasket on the top of the lower drawer. If the lower edge of the freezer drawer is pitched inward, it could result in the top of this drawer not sealing. You may observe frost buildup in this area if you have this problem.
If you see the bottom of the drawer pitched inward, you can remove the lower screw on the bottom of each vertical door mounting bracket. Loosen but do not remove the upper screw (see image). Shim the bottom of the drawer forward by adding steel washers between the bottom vertical mounting bracket screw hole and the door liner. Adding these washer shims to the bottom of the door will cause the top of the drawer to tilt back toward the cabinet. This will allow the top of the drawer gasket to seal properly.
You could also have a defrost problem. If you had a leak in the door seal mentioned above, this could cause excessive frost that is not melted off entirely in the defrost cycle. A problem in the defrost cycle, the frost buildup can inhibit cooling air flow to the refrigerator compartment.
To check the defrost system, locate the defrost timer behind the bottom front grill of the refrigerator (Key 15 in the second image below). Manually rotate the dial on this timer clockwise until the condenser fan turns off. The defrost heater (Key 26 in the third image) should turn on to melt ice and frost off of the evaporator. If not, you could have a bad heater or other component failure in the defrost system.
If the defrost system is working properly and you had a door seal leak, you may just have excessive frost buildup causing your cooling problem in the refrigerator. Conducting the extra defrost cycle by manually advancing the defrost timer may melt off this excessive frost and allow the refrigerator to begin cooling properly.
