Kenmore upright freezer - Freezer has Hi Temp warning light

When I got home from work yesterday the Hi Temp alarm was on. I reset the alarm and the buzzing went off but the temp was still high and would not go down. I turned it on Quick Freeze before going to bed. When I got up this morning the food was almost defrosted. Then another alarm came on showing of ff and it flashed these 4 letters. I've got a warranty but they can't get to my house for 2 weeks. I finally did get the temperature set to 0 and when I left for work the temp was at 41. What can I do if I get home and the temp is still high?

Look at your evaporator coils, and see if you have a thin layer of frost on ALL the coils. If not, you have a sealed system problem. The sealed system consists of the compressor, condenser, evaporator, heat exchanger, filter/drier and refrigerant. Common problems with a sealed system are bad compressors, refrigerant leaks, and system restrictions. You can call Sears Home Services at 1-800-4-MY-HOME for repair.
