Hello John, I can understand your concern about the water dispenser leaking. In most cases, when this problem occurs, the water valve located behind the unit will need to be replaced. This is the inlet valve that supplies water to the dispenser and the icemaker. What generally happens is the valve will not seat properly and will allow water to seep through. It's also possible this can be caused from air in the water system but it's not as likely. The valve # 242252702 is available at Sears PartsDirect. Here is the link you can access for the valve, searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/242252702/0046/253?pathTaken=directMatch&filterPart=&pop=flush&prst=0&shdPart=242252702 .
The valve is not difficult to replace. Be sure to disconnect the power and turn the water supply valve off to the unit first. I would recommend taking a picture of the original valve that will show the existing water lines and wire connections. Now, remove the water supply line and be prepared to catch some water. Remove the screw holding the water valve in place and you can now disconnect the water lines and wire harness connections. Reassemble in reverse order. I'm also listing a site you can access for a video of how the water connections on this valve will work. youtube.com/watch?v=-Avzf-jsHyM . I hope this will help you.
