Have a Craftsman self propelled lawn mower.
Drive control is on the front axle. The torsion or tension spring was removed by someone else and I am unable to put it back where it goes
I have the manual but it isn't helpful. They removed the spring to allow the drive control to tilt toward the engine while the belt was being replaced.
It is simply the spring. Just the spring. The mower is fine except the belt keeps coming off of the front pulley above the drive control because the torsion spring is not holding it in place.

I cannot take it to a store because I drive a car. I don't want people at my house either. I just want to know where the torsion spring connects to the mower from the drive control unit.
It is not there. I have been looking at this machine and almost every web site and forum to get this fixed. The manual shows the spring but not where it connects to the mower
I know what the problem is. I do not understand why you cannot just tell me where it connects to the mower

Ron, Thanks for trying to help but the cable is in and properly so. The torsion spring that the man in video doesn't touch is what I installed but is ineffective. My Model # is 917.376406
