Refrigerator Model # RF28HMEDBSR - have had many issues with water leaking, first on the left side, and then now also water coming out on the front side. I put rags around the bottom of the fridge so my family does not slip. The water is coming out more and more, have to replace the rags every few hours to prevent accidents. I have slipped already in the middle of the night. I called Samsung for help and they emailed me a pdf file instructing me how to make sure the fridge is level. There was nothing wrong with it being level and it's still leaking worse than ever. Called Samsung back and they said they can refer me to a company that can repair my fridge. Samsung only warranties the fridge for one year, after that I have to pay for labor and parts to repair this issue. I researched online and found that this is a common issue with other Samsung Refrigerators. Here is the link for the class action lawsuit filed against Samsung for selling their defective product. https://www.classaction.org/samsung-refrigerator-ice-maker-lawsuit Repair company charges $100 for diagnostic. Then we wait for them to order the parts needed which is around $125 plus more labor charges for them to install it. And we are not sure this will even resolve the problem. Stay away from Samsung appliances. I also have a Samsung stove that all the knobs have broken off. Samsung will charge you over $50 per **** to replace them. Pieces of junk, faulty appliances, Samsung should not sell their defective products to consumers.
We are a military family that is now retired with almost a 100% disability rating. In the past, we have always bought Whirlpool appliances but decided to get Samsung a shot since we like their phones. We bought this 28 cu.ft. 4-door French door refrigerator almost 6 years ago & love it EXCEPT FOR THE ICE MAKER (which has a class-action lawsuit against Samsung because of the huge design flaw) & the FREEZER (food like ice cream does not freeze hard which is another flaw in its design). The ice maker worked great at first but then started freezing up with ice & ice crystals all over the unit. We would defrost it, & it would work great for a couple of months & start the process all over again. At the time, we knew nothing about the class-action lawsuit, & we paid about $500 for parts & labor to a Samsung-approved repair service to replace the ice maker component. It worked great for a while but then started the whole freezing-up cycle all over again. I called a different repair service which wasn't Samsung-approved, & that's when I was told about the class-action lawsuit. I called Samsung &, after long conversations & lots of transfers, we got the ice maker replaced for free. We were assured that the problem was fixed, but, it wasn't. Yesterday, it started freezing up again, & I am dreading the call to Samsung to have the ice maker replaced once again because it is just going to keep happening until we just get rid of it & purchase another model that doesn't have the ice maker & dispenser located in the fridge. As for the issue with the freezer & ice cream, freezie pops, etc, we have resorted to putting those items in the refrigerator-freezer in the garage which is inconvenient because whenever we want one of those items, we have to go into the garage to get it & return it to the garage once it's scooped. That may seem like a petty complaint, but after spending a ridiculous amount of money on this unit, we shouldn't have to put food that's regularly used in the garage fridge which is meant for bulk & long-term storage. Other than those 2 things which are pretty significant, we like the rest of the unit like the flexible shelf & the smaller pull-out drawer which we use for sandwich meat, cheese, butter, cream cheese, etc, making it very convenient by providing quick & easy access. While the flexible shelf & the pull-out drawer are amazing to have, they do not even begin to compensate for the ice maker & freezer fiascos. PLEASE BE AWARE WHEN PURCHASING ANY FRENCH DOOR FRIDGES WITH THE ICE MAKER & DISPENSER LOCATED IN THE FRIDGE. We will stick with Samsung phones & will not purchase any Samsung appliances. We will NEVER make this costly & inconvenient mistake again.
This refrigerator is very large, and in a good way. It is very nice looking and gives ample room for anything a family would need. The shelves are limited in that the height of the main space is not tall but wide. The ice maker does take up space but it is much smaller than other similar models. Overall I'm happy with the refrigerator even with the size. Do make sure you have sufficient room, as well as doors that are wide enough to get it into your house. We have 36 inch doors which are larger than average, so measure twice. I would highly recommend this type of refrigerator. As I own two of them, in two different homes, they are much more convenient than a side by side.
Loads of space; can be changed to make space for different situations
really like the looks and design, lots of room and like the middle drawer and bottom freezer
beautiful, but haven't been able to use ice-maker for years. constantly removing ice build up, defrosting and it comes right back. have to rely on much cheaper fridge in laundry room for ice. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
