The guy that did the other review admitted he wasn't that savy about electronics, hasta be the truth. This TV is easy to set up,and it does have audio out. Optical audio output and output for headphons or external speakers. I haven't used the optical output, but i have hooked up headphones, and speakers.I don't know what was wrong with his TV but mine has Great sound all by it self.
I am not at all savvy when it comes to electronics. Wanted to finally upgrade from my 19-inch flat panel TV to the modern world. Sought a moderately priced 32-inch TV for my small house, and found CNET's review helpful. (Apparently so did a lot of people because suddenly it was out of stock everywhere. Still, after a horrendous experience with Sears.com, I finally found one.) Very easy to set up, along with my new Apple TV. The picture is good. However, and most importantly, the TV's sound is abysmal and THERE IS NO AUDIO OUT DESPITE THE SPECS AND SEARS WILL NOT ACCEPT RETURNS AFTER 30 DAYS. Who knew this was something I had to spot check? Sadly, I didn't realize in time that there is no option for a soundbar, home audio or anything. I am stuck with a TV with sound so bad I'm ready to junk it.
Bought this as a second TV and have been very pleased with it. The colors are bright and the sound crisp. I would buy it over again in a heartbeat.
Our son loves his new Samsung TV....great quality picture...We just love it.
I am very happy with the EH5000 series televisions. It has a very bright, sharp picture when watching Blu-Ray DVD's. There is a equally nice picture when watching broadcast programming using the built-in DTV tuner. There seems to be enough connections for what I need (HDMI, RCA, Composite, USB, etc...) Samsung has designed a real quality product.
Wanted a bigger screen in the kitchen for PC and Roku. Currently have a 24'' Samsung 1080p monitor but most 32'' "TVs" are 720p, a downgrade. Found this one and decided to give it a try. First issue was that it treated my video card's output with quite a bit of underscan, i.e., the desktop was smaller than the screen. Tried a million things and finally downloaded the latest AMD Catalyst driver/manager which includes an overscan option which worked perfectly. Be sure to use the PC or DVI/PC input label or the TV will process the PC display into a messy mess. After all this fiddling, it looks pretty good, especially video played on the PC. Of course the Roku looks just great on this set given the limitations of LCD displays and price point of the set.
Cons: The analog audio output is very "hot" i.e., loud and cannot be controlled by the volume control. That's pretty annoying since the included, tiny speakers are below average. The power switch is a tiny joystick under the right side of the panel. It's confusing and inconvenient. Only two HDMIs is limiting. There no option to map the analog audio inputs to the HDMI/DVI input which would make using this set with a DVI PC so much easier. The remote is not programmable/universal. Loses its clock setting if power is lost.
Pros: good PQ for the money--this wipes out most of the "Cons" which are mostly just annoyances. Decent remote. Light weight. Only draws about 33W nominally, UPS-friendly. Surprisingly handsome, simple appearance. Analog audio-out option (becoming more rare). Has a number of handy auto-off options if you forget to turn it off. No "Smart TV" functions (yes, this is a pro, get a Roku or Chromecast which work better).
Despite the niggles, I'm very glad I found this set. It's a great value and has a pretty good picture. It also (finally) works great as a PC monitor providing your video card includes overscan controls.
only had this tv about 2 months. so far iam happy with the performance a typical samsung product excellent
