Dry Your Way
We got a great deal on this, Thankyou Sears! It dries in half the time and is much quieter than our last one. I love the moisture detection feature! You can also override this feature by using manual control. The chime that occurs when it is finished is much more pleasant than a buzzer. The door is reversible. The lint catcher is conveniently in front. We’ve only had this a month, but we’ve used it quite a bit and LOVE it! I have already recommended this dryer to my friends.
I'd give it zero stars if they let me. Bought this dryer less than two years ago and now it's dead. The actual drum inside bent from the weight of the wet clothes. Family of four here...not huge loads or anything, mind you. When that happened it started making horrible noises and was really loud, and it was rubbing the inside as it turned, but it was still working. Eventually a hole tore open in the drum inside near the rim, but it was still turning and drying my clothes..lol, believe it or not. Eventually enough metal tore off from the hole and fell into the engine and gears that it died, at around 20 months from purchase. I'd post the pictures I took of this disaster but I can't here. still looks like new on the outside...the guys from Sears who hauled it away couldn't believe it when they saw it!
bought 2 years ago. the heater died. cost to repair was the same amount we payed for entire dryer. samsung refused to cover the repair. "1 yr coverage only". samsung has lost 2 very loyal customers.
received with some exterior damage. may have been hidden problems. has a mind of its own. not sure we would buy another samsung dryer.
I would not recommend this item, I bought it in 2016 and it has broken down at least twice so far.
Add me to those warning about this machine. It's a beautiful machine and has worked fine for 20 months. The heating element quit working yesterday and now I'll have a large repair bill for something I actually took out a 2nd job to purchase. I will be avoiding Samsung products the next time I am able to afford a large appliance purchase. There's no reason that a $600 machine should last less than 24 months before a major repair.
Purchased this dryer two and a half years ago. Served us well, family of six, up until this month. Dryer developed a loud thumping sound while in operation. Wife noticed a hole in the dryer drum. After a search on Google and a trip down the rabbit hole I discovered this seems to be a common issue with these Samsung dryers. A new dryer drum is around $200-300!; but probably an easy repair for a DIY person. Samsung is no help outside their one year warranty period and admits no responsibility in the manufacturer defect.
I will be removing the drum myself this weekend and having it weld back together again. If that doesn't work I'll be out $250 for a new drum....which will probably break.
I found two law firms looking into class action lawsuits over the issue. Here's to hoping something comes out of it.
