High Tech & Fresh Features
I can't say that I am the most learned of refrigerator shoppers, but we had an allowance to choose our own appliances with our new home purchase. I ended up with a crash course. We had friends who warned us about the problems with the drawer freezer in french door refrigerators, so we were very wary of them. The french door models all looked very nice but we had a second issue - our space was shallow so we needed a counter depth fridge. This meant we would lose more fridge space. Enter this model - it had the perfect solution to both of our issues. It has two regular upright freezer panels down below. Even better, one of the panels (the bottom right) can switch to become a fridge instead of a freezer. Since we don't usually keep lots of frozen items, we just turned the lower right space into a drink fridge, freeing up tons of room in the main fridge. All of the functions work fine but I really think that this design is very good for addressing the two issues we had. I suspect that there are lots of people with similar restrictions, so if so, I would look closely at this model.
I waited to buy this refrigerator. It originally was not available in counter depth. When I discovered that it was in April 2016, I immediately purchased it. I don't have a great need for a large freezer, so the flex option to extend the refrigeration space was the key selling point, along with the ample shelf space it provides. However, I have one of the models that constantly gurgles and bubbles. Not just a little, but most of the time! It is down right annoying as my family room adjoins my kitchen which makes it impossible to escape the gurgling and bubbling sounds. It literally sounds like I have an aquarium in my kitchen. Yes, the manual says that some sounds are normal, REALLY!! I have a friend who has the same refrigerator without the same problem. I've read countless reviews about consumers who own the same refrigerator with most being happy with their purchase but enough who have, "The Sound Problem" like I do, to ask the question of Samsung, "Why hasn't the problem been solved. It my be that only 1 in 10 have the gurgling/bubbling problem, but aren't all purchaser's of this product entitled to the same quality product?!
The ice maker needs to be recalled and this issue solved. The cubes jam-up and block the storage bin. Maybe it doesn't shut off when the bin is full. I have to break up the blockage every month and have a ice bag on hand which reduces the freezer space. The refrigerator drips and makes noises.
Purchased 3 months ago. Ice needs to be reset almost every day. Do like the easy and separate ice and water dispenser system - great design there. Pay particular attention to the set up of the four compartments and imagine how you would fit your standard items in them. Find it doesnt hold much with too much space taken with the four doors. Determined I prefer freezer that pulls out for much better access.
I bought this fridge in May 2018. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool, the flexzone is a great feature, but I've had countless issues with the ice dispenser. Ice accumulates around the ice maker. In September I thawed out the ice maker with a hair dryer. It worked for a few months, but I am back in the same predicament 3 months later. For as much as this fridge is, this is ridiculous.
Good concept for a refrigerator.
The ice maker function has serious flaws. It freezes up & quits making ice. This requires that the unit is turned off, the bin pulled out & all the ice thawed out with a hair dryer. Not good!
If we are lucky we get 3 or 4 dumps of ice a day. We had to have it worked on before the warranty was out and they repairman said they don't seal them well since they are in the refrigeration part. Now when you open the door it usually drips water. We hate this thing. We use a lot of ice and this doesn't work for us.
