The mounting post is very badly designed. First, the post is NOT attached to the brake pad. Instead, it is threaded along its entire length and screws into the pad. When you turn the nut to tighten it, sometimes the nut screws onto the post and sometimes the post screws into the pad. When you turn the nut to loosen it, sometimes the nut comes off of the post and sometimes the post comes out of the pad. You have to be very careful so that there is enough of the post inside the pad when you're done to hold it securely. Otherwise - EEK! NO BRAKES! Second, the post is too short. If it's screwed all the way into the pad, there's not enough post left to mount on standard V-brakes. So, if it's screwed too far into the pad you can't mount it, and if it isn't screwed in far enough the pad can break away from it. You can make them work, but go to REI and get some properly designed pads instead.
My niece recently purchased a previously used bike. One of the brake shoes were missing. I thought that it would entail searching for a bike shop locally and trying to match up what was on the bike. I was pleasantly surprise to run across these name brand brake shoes for an awesome price on here. They fit his bike perfectly. The pads are nice and thick and should never need to be replaced for the lifetime as far as I can tell. Love that I was able to find Schwinn brand to help ensure that they would fit. Shipping was super quick. Installation was a breeze. My nephew looks forward to all of the use that he will now be able to get out of his purchase. Here's to a summer spent outside being a kid!
They work on any bike
