Had To Get This Schwinn

My Mom bought this same bike for my Stepdad. He rides his to work almost daily, I started having trouble with my expensive Giant Cruiser. I don't drive so I needed a good bike with fenders for the winter time. My parents came home with this for me as an early christmas present. For me the frame is a hair too small but the seat raises pretty high as does the gooseneck and handlebars. It fits pretty well now Before I started riding it, my Stepdad stripped it down and greased all the bearings with some synthetic auto type grease. It rides easier than my old 3 speed crusier. I left the fenders on so that we can tell the bikes apart. I really like the seat, the handle grips are pretty cool too with the Schwinn logo. The only thing I changed were the pedals, I have some with cleats that grip my shoe better, my stepdad snagged my old ones for spares for his Schwinn. My stepdad has had schwinn's since he was a kid and he's pretty old too. I've been happy with the bike and the brakes are pretty good too, it will skid pretty easy too so I can lock the rear tire and spin a 180. Everyone in my family owns a Schwinn. I ride to work almost every day on it. My stepdad is crazy about his bike and puts pics of him and my mom on facebooks Schwinn page. I like my bike a lot and people always say nice bike in the neighborhood. My Giant that has given me trouble since I bought it almost 2 years ago was more than double the price of my Schwinn. As my stepdad would say my Schwinn Drifter Rocks Out

Never again

When I received the bike the box was damaged, Paint damage on the frame, fenders had dents, and when riding a banging noise from the rear axle. I didn't return it because the return procedure is a pain.I'm writing this off as a gambling loss. Watch out. I'll never do business with Sear's again

I ordered this bike on-line and I was very excited because of the color - black & white. Having said that, I was a little nervous because of a couple reviews stated they received a different color than the bike described. Although my order stated "free shipping" Sears indicated there was no shipping available to my area and that I would have to pick up at the local store. (ummmmm okay - but fine). When I arrived at the store to pick up the bike almost a week later - guess what? The bike was NOT the color I ordered, it was silver and black. I did not leave the store with the bike I got a refund. I asked a sales associate in Sporting Goods to check their stock for availability and he gave me a complete run-around including stating "maybe the website is wrong or people don't care what color they receive" . Then I approached a manager to ask if she could assist me in locating the bike that I actually ordered. She tried but admitted she could not guarantee the same thing would not happen again with the color. She gave me Sears Corporate office # to call. I explained that I really wanted this bike (as described) but after searching she could not find the bike anywhere and apologized for the miscommunication of the website. She then suggested I check on eBay or another retailer.

So this happened a couple weeks ago and as of today, May 26, 2017 the website still indicates that this bike is black and white with a picture as described. Some might call this is the 'ol "Bait and Switch".

I caution other reviewers about this bike before purchasing.

I ended up ordering a similar bike from Walmart. Customer service was great and they assembled the bike at no charge.

Good quality bicycle

The bicycle arrived in good condition and was easy to put together. Quality seems good as well.

Great bike

At first, I was a little disappointed because the image that's presented on the website, is not the color bicycle I got. It ended up being black and red, but after a little while, I thought was cool because it did remind me of a 50's hotrod. Other than that, it has been smooth cruising.

Good purchase!!!

The one that we ordered is not the one we received but this worked to our advantage since we like the solid grey with red & black detailing much better. My guy is 6'4" and he says this bike is comfortable and provides a nice ride. The only reason I gave a good instead of excellent rating is that it would have been nice if it included a rear and/or front rack.
