I worked at Sears ,selling among other things mattresses. I know exactly what warranty info was available and provided to Sears associates and customers. It consists solely of a specified period of time and extent of defect required for a warranty claim.
Within the warranty period mine sagged, became uncomfortable. I filed a claim, with all the required photos. They simply dismissed my claim because I had cut most of the "law tag", but a photo clearly showed the remnant of the law tag that says in large print:
"UNDER PENALTY OF LAW
THIS TAG NOT TO BE REMOVED
EXCEPT BY THE CCONSUMER" .
Sears insists the entire law tag must still be attached, and backs up their refusal with this: http://web.mail.comcast.net/service/home/~/?auth=co&loc=en_US&id=473980&part=2
Neither sales associates nor customers are aware of this "warranty requirement " while shopping, purchasing, or selling a mattress. Sears allows you to cut this useless tag to void their phony warranty, rather than warning you.
