Beautiful and quality built.

I bought this watch to replace my 17 year old Seiko that has partly died. First let me tell you that the picture really does it no justice. The watch is gorgeous and very blingy. I like the fact that it is solar and no more batteries. Seiko makes a very affordable quality watch and I also received and used my "Shop Your Way Rewards" for the purchase and it was on sale to boot. I got the watch for less than $120.00. A mighty big savings. The stainless steel is top shelf quality and there are many upgrades over the years since I bought my last Seiko. I liked it so much I bought another different Seiko model a few days later for dress up. This watch will not disapoint so buy it while it is on sale.

Battery would not stay charged

I bought this 6 months ago. I worked fine for about 4 months. Then it stopped. The manual says this thing should hold a charge for 4 to 6 months. So I left it out in the sun for a day, then under a tensor lamp all night. It charged up and worked fine again. This happened several times; so I returned it. I have been buying Seiko for over 50 years since my first purchase at the PX near Camp Alpha (Saigon). I was very disappointed because have owned several Seikos and always been very happy; but correct twice a day does not work for me. Not sure if I will buy another Seiko, or give up and go for another brand.

Great timepiece (once you keep it charged)

|

I've had the watch for about a year now. Worked great during the summer. As the days got shorter, the watch would stop. Very frustrating. Took it back to the store; the watch was sent out for repairs and returned in six weeks. "Repaired movement" was the diagnosis. Still stopped, usually in 2 days. Ah! a pattern developes. Very little sun and working evening shift does not allow adequate charging. Read the instructions again and did some research on the net. Here's what I currently do: Turn the watch "off" by pulling the stem out. I leave it off between 12 midnight and the morining hours. (don't need it on, anyway.) I use a 100 watt LED bulb in a clamp on work light fixture rated for 150 watts. I position the watch about 2 inches away from the bulb. (According to Seiko's instruction, a 32 watt flourescent provides about 10,000 lux 5cm away from the watch.) I'm using a 100watt LED. 10,000 x3 = 30,000 lux at 90 watts. At 10,000 lux, it would take 35 hours for the watch to fully charge. Round off 35 to 36, divide by 3, and the watch should charge fully in 12 hours. The watch does NOT get overheated; stays "body temp" warm. So far, so good.
