"Serta IComfort Directions Inception".. This is our first Memory Foam Mattress (married 37 years). We have been sleeping on it, for 4 months, and both find it to be very comfortable. I prefer a soft mattress (We tried an Icomfort Savant in the store.. I loved it!... but it was too soft for my husband). My husband insists on a firm mattress. At the salesman's reccomendation we then tried the Directions Inception. My Husband said "OK" to the Inception (he wasn't really happy about having to replace our old coil spring/pillow top mattress, NOT Serta, after only 4 years, period). If it was only up to me I would have chosen the softer Savant.. but I agreed on the Firm Inception because I couldn't stand the thought of having to sleep on our old pillow top dippy/sagging mattress for even one more night. ;o) Odor.. there was an odor for 1 day. Our Mattress was delivered in the morning.. By evening (after opening windows and leaving a fan on),.. as soon as we put our mattress cover and sheets on...there was no longer an odor... none. "Coolness". Our mattress doesn't hold heat (I was a bit concerned it might.. after having a memory foam pillow, years ago, that got so warm I couldn't use it.) The mattress does stay cool. After sleeping on it for 4 months.. my husband (who didn't really want to spend the $ on a new mattress ;o). said he HAD to admit that it is VERY COMFORTABLE. :o) And, although firm wasn't my first choice.. I love it too!!! It is very supportive. You don't sink into it.. but it still fills in all the "spaces'. Having back problems.. this is the first time I can remember (in many years) being able to sleep on my back! And, the body pillow that I have had to use for more than 20 years (to get comfortable on stomach/side)... is now no longer needed!. Back feels great. And, it no longer takes HOURS of tossing and turning to fall asleep. Supportive comfortable bed, and a great nights sleep! :o) There is one tiny negative... (but I won't take any stars away for it). We got the King size mattress. The King foundation that came with it is "split"/two extra long twin box springs. In the center of our bed, right down the middle, where the two box springs meet underneath.. the mattress is hard there. (about a four inch strip down the middle of the bed). This is not really a problem, for us, as neither of us sleeps smack dab in the center of the bed. (might be an issue for someone who would.. so wanted to mention it). And, it wouldn't even be there if we didn't have the KING/SPLIT foundation/box springs. We are very happy with our mattress! :o) (I can't see ever going back to a coil spring... what a difference memory foam makes!)
The model in the store was much firmer and stable than the one that was delivered. When sitting on the edge of it, it squishes down too much--much more than the store's. It doesn't spring back either. Changing positions or moving around on it is extremely difficult. When the bed is made, it looks beaten down, uneven and like it's sliding off the base. A friend tested it and said it was soft--no one would say that about the showroom model. I thought it was too hard/supportive, now I'm not sure which it is. No matter, it is pain inducing. Soon after purchase, I started waking up with pain and cramping in my lumbar and pelvis. I'm immobilized when lying on my back. Rolling on my side is very hard and rarely an improvement. I spend half the night on the couch because I seem to have less pain if I sleep on the bed 3 hours or less. I have an adjustable base and have discovered that if raise the head of the bed to a sitting position, I can get back to sleep. The other night it was uncomfortable from the first minute. Making the bed is painful. The pain seems to wear off but I find myself needing to sit or lie down after walking or standing for short time since buying the bed. I can barely stand up straight after reclining on just about any surface. I wish I'd kept my 25-yr old Posturepedic, It was a bit saggy (although it looked better dressed than the Inception) and I'd wake up stiff (for a while). Waking up with back and shoulder pain was an infrequent occurrence. I've had a hip replacement and back surgery so I thought a new bed might be a good thing. I don't think I would have recovered if I'd had this bed. I was ready to return the bed after less than a month but tried to break it in through the holidays. It's going back asap. My back and pelvis are so sore that shopping for a bed makes the pain flare up.
We have had these(double twin xl/king) mattresses 8 months and am very disappointed with them. They are very unsupportive. Go to bed feeling ok but wake up in the middle of the night with back and shoulder pain. The mattress turns soft and we end up laying in a hole. These mattresses are a replacement for are 5 year old king mattress that was defective. We have 3 cheaper mattresses for are kids that they love. We have always bought the higher price mattresses for ourself but it has not been worth it. Very disappointed with our last two serta purchases.
If you need a somewhat of a firm mattress then this isn't the bed for you. After about 120 days my husband and I started having our back pain again, we also noticed when we both were laying next to each other, we would slant into the center of the bed making it uncomfortable. The firmness of the bed deflates to quickly. And I am a belly sleeper and I have never had so much pain in my life after the first couple weeks sleeping on this mattress. If you need a firm mattress and still choose icomfort go to complete firm that way it may end up being the firmness you need after there 120 day guarantee.
We bought a Kings size for us and a Queen Size for our child. After looking at Mattress and going to Sleep Number we Came back to the I comfort by Serta. Very Very Happy and we all a a family enjoy a goods night sleep. For the Money this is the best sleep we have had in Years.
I work 12 hrs every day and the end of day i feel really tired, just i waiting for sleep time to rest in this perfect matress and the next day i feel likes new person.
Previously having a inter-spring mattress. I had began to toss and turn each night, only to awake in the morning tired and in extreme pain from my shoulder to lower back. My spouse told me that it was most likely our 3 year old major manufacturer mattress. I went to see a doctor about these pains and they couldn't find anything wrong other than inflamed tissue that was causing the terrible pains. Still I did not believe it could be our mattress. Im the type of person whom hates to spend money, and when I saw a commercial for the iComforts I thought I would take a look as I thought my wife may be correct, maybe it was our mattress and to my horror they were a pretty penny.
After getting financing with terms that I was happy with we took the plunge and I can firmly say this bed has changed my life.
Gone are the tossing and turning each night, I nolonger awake with shoulder or back pains. The adjustable base is an added luxury which my spouse and I throughly enjoy.
