We've had this mattress since Thursday and I have never slept better! I highly recommend it.
I would recommend Serta Mattresses to others, I sleep good at Night with them, I would recommend them to others!
Finally I found a bed to sleep on! I used to wake up with severe back pain and I don't anymore.
My husband and I originally purchased a queen in firm with the adjustable base. We had to return the mattress as it was way too firm and small. We had an option for a one time exchange within 120 days which we did and upgraded to the Merit in King. We spent hours in the store trying different models laying on each one on our sides and back for 5 minutes and the Merit was the best one. Different story once it was delivered. For the first few days it was wonderful then after that it is pretty much a back and hip nightmare! We joke and say the bed has a shut off time which is really not funny when you think about it because after 4 or five hours you cannot lay in bed anymore due to the dip your body has made and the large hump in the middle of the bed which also causes tossing and turning during sleep. Forget sitting in bed as well. The really sad part in all of this is now we are stuck with a brand new mattress we hate and cannot exchange for a plush.
I have had my Ceremony SPT (now called the Merit SPT) king size mattress set for 3 years now, and still do not have a single issue with this bed! I consider myself a bigger guy, 6'4" and 210 lbs, but i wanted a mattress that had enough give for my shoulder and hip because i'm a side sleeper. I chose this bed because it is a firmer style pillow top, it's soft yet very supportive.
After 3 years of daily use by my fiancee and myself, and rotating the mattress every month or two, it still has not formed any dip or body impressions whatsoever. I wake up every morning feeling rested, ready for the day.
I also use my iComfort Scrunch pillow that i got at the same time and its a perfect combo!
Duration of ownership: 1 month+
Sleep style: side sleeper
My husband and I have been wanting a new mattress for some time now. So we agreed that when we purchased a new one it would be one both of comfort and quality. We went out to a local furniture store near us that sold several brands and not only tried mattresses with traditional coil systems, but hybrid and memory foam styles as well.
We spent a significant amount of time in the store looking at all the brands, testing all the mattresses there, and asking a lot of questions. We had the opportunity to purchase a more economically priced competitor (in this case Sealy) but did not enjoy the way their memory foam and hybrid mattresses felt.
We were actually torn between the icomfort Savant and the iseries Merit (the one we bought). The reason we enjoyed this over the competitor brands was the way the gel foam layer felt. In the competitor brand it felt like the mattress was pulling away from you as you laid on it. While it still conformed to my body, it also lacked a feeling of something special I was looking for. I tried traditional coil, hybrid, and foam in this brand.
The Serta mattresses, the other hand, still provided the same support but also did not feel foamy (that pulling away from the body sensation I mentioned before). They gently conformed to my body and hugged it lightly. I was a little concerned at first because both my husband and I can get very hot at night (constantly running a fan, even with the old mattress) and were worried about how much hotter this would feel. The sales rep assured us that it was not a problem for anyone he had sold this to before, and he was right!
The Serta was priced above the competitors but for the benefits of comfort I received, I was willing to make the additional financial commitment.
We went with the merit over the Savant for 2 major reasons. First and foremost was a price difference. The benefits we could see on the sales floor of a plush top over a foam was limited. The merit has the same foam gel in its plush top layer, still providing you with some (but not all) of the foams comfort. The second reason being we decided to stick with a traditional coil mattress.
The first night sleeping on the merit was amazing! When I laid down for the night it was so comfortable all the way from my upper back down to my legs. I think when I came home from work that first day after its delivery, I just laid on it and did not move for 20 minutes! I work a job where I walk around a lot and come home at irregular hours, when I go to sleep at night I still have that same wonderful feeling that I did the first day.
My husband and I frequently comment that this was an excellent purchase.
I know it is hard to make the financial commitment at times to get a higher quality mattress. We are a family of 4 with two children 5 and under. Our money goes it a lot of other places other than towards good items for us. But after sleeping on a bad mattress for 5 years we knew we had to make the commitment to a better quality mattress.
With my old mattress I was waking up with a restful nights sleep, having pain in your neck, back, and shoulders, and not feeling like you did not sleep at all. I do not miss these things and am extremely glad I spent the money on a quality mattress.
The argument could be made that any new mattress would provide these, but not all mattress will provide me with the long term quality investment that a Serta will. I need to guarantee my restful sleep not just in the short term but for many years to come.
