This is quite a good vacuum for the price. I have dogs that shed so I first tried this out on my family room carpet (where they spend a lot of their time) and got 3/4 of a canister full of dog hair, I was amazed! I then proceeded on to my stairs and tried out the beater brush attachment on the wand...once again I was amazed at how much the Shark picked up. I am replacing an Oreck with this vacuum and this is heavier than the 8lb Oreck but it sure is a lot more powerful and no expensive bags to buy. So far I am very happy with my purchase.
I am a professional, independent housecleaner of 14 years. This vacuum is a pain-literally. In its upright form, it is heavy, has no edge suction, and can't get under furniture. In its canister form, the hose, requires you to gymnastically brace the canister with your foot while trying to sweep forward, or it will spring the canister rapidly toward your heels. The wand has no additional extension and with it's bulky handle, can't get beside appliances all the way back to the wall. the hard floor attachment has very limited swivel range and is bulky and tall, with no side or rear suction, so it's very limited under couch edges or around table legs. You have to have it face anywhere you want to suction, so you have to be able to move around everything or switch back and forth constantly to the small brush. This attachment is also the carpet tool for getting under beds and dressers with legs. For that, you are the power brush as it is not powered. The small brush has versatile swivel, but the brush bristles are very short and less effective than the old-fashioned round, long, soft-bristled brushes. As with every new incarnation of vacuum design, it isn't compatible with any other attachments. The "power brush" is powered by air, so material resistance stops the spinning, rendering it ineffective. Of course, being a bagless, it is high maintenance; before you put it away, you have to dump the cup (outdoors in the cold or wind, because the dust will float) and "tap" the dust out of the filter. You also have to track 3 mos. to remember to wash out the filter. It does have better suction than the $40 basic uprights at *******, but not really more versatitlity.
Vacuum us the best no bags, sucks everything up. Comes apart to do my stairs, with a push of a button the wand comes out. Comes with 5 attachments for wand 2 of witch can be carried on vacuum itself. Had a bare floor attachment to do my kitchen and bathroom. Very happy with it!!!
I have this same product and have been using it for years now. I love it! My daughter asked for a vacuum as a gift... and it was a no-brainer to purchase the same one for her.
