These sheets are a life saver. I am a rag quilter. I cannot per wash fabrics many times as it will not be a good rag the second washing. So my materials and colors were limited until I discovered color catchers. Now I use them in all my color catching projects. I don't wash pens with them, but fabric colors don't bleed.
I have used color catchers for years and sometimes they work, others they don't. I washed a new vest that is polyester, so I figured it probabaly would bleed, but just in case, I added 3 color catchers and washed in cold water. Two caught nothing really and looked a little gray--no gray or black clothes were in the load--then the third looked like it had purplish spots. One sock and my khakis that were under the vest when i pulled it all out were bright pink in the areas near part of the vest, but other items were unscathed. It is the weirdest thing I have ever seen! I immediately stuck my sock and khakis into a bowl of water and some Biz in hopes of getting it out. So disappointed. This isn't the first time it's happened. I have lost faith in this product I used to love!
I've been using this product for years and have really liked it, especially since it was fragrance free. Now I've noticed that a fragrance has been added. I'm very disappointed and no longer want to purchase this product.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When it comes to apartment living, you have to pay to wash and dry your clothes. And there's nothing worse than having dye leak all over your clothes in a mixed load of laundry (whites and colors). Make the most of every wash with these color catcher sheets, that will make sure that the dye lands on the sheet and not on your clothes! chances are, there might be lingering dye that hasn't washed out from your brightly colored or dark clothes. And if you haven't washed something in a long time, dye or may not be lingering.
My aunt made me a beautiful quilt. She included specific washing instructions along with several color catcher sheets to use to prevent bleeding. I even threw in a few extra as a precaution. When the cycle ended, I opened the washer and my heart broke. 8 color catchers and it still bled EVERYWHERE! My aunt has made hundreds of quilts and this is the first time one has bled like this. I don't know if I can get it out. She gave me some tips. My water bill is going to be horrible next billing cycle and I've now used over 30 color catchers. I'm really upset. Unsure if it's a fabric with rich dyes or just a bad box of color catchers.
Have used color catcher for years. While I usually wash light and dark separately, I always use on both loads. Fortunately since we all make mistakes and mix. So far the color catchers work and the light colored item is not ruined. Thanks for a great product. Originally one was given to me by a friend to try. I have passed on several to others to give it a try.
Shout Color Catchers are a lifesaver for your laundry! I use one per load typically, but will use two sheets when washing new pieces of clothing or in a large load of dark clothes. The attached photo shows two used color catchers from a larger load of dark clothes that included several new items. The white (unused) sheet is included for reference. These little sheets are worth the money!
