LOVE IT!

I love my South Shore Storage cabinet! Looks even better in person. It does take several hours to put together, but well worth it. Very sturdy and heavy! I purchased 2 a few months back for my computer room, and now I am purchasing 3 more for my toy room/storage room.

terrible

This is the poorest quality partial board furniture I've seen. It was boxed poorly where the corrugate split in the middle and ripped at then end. It seemed UPS had to repair it with an extra box wrapped around it. It was a nightmare to bring in the house with the weakness of the box. The ends were crushed, and so were the boards inside. Even the inner parts of boards were damaged... like they must have been broken before packed at the factory. Needless to say, I put it together but it looks so beat-up and I'm sure wont last long.

South Shore Morgan Collection Storage Cabinet Royal Cherry

|

I received this item today Friday September 6-2013. Need to put together and use. I am so sorry that it took so long to get this review out. It has been put together and it is perfect. It will be used every day. The color is so nice and alot of space to put things in it. It is really a very nice cabinet I just love it. Would recommend this to everyone well worth every penny. Thank you so very much.

Great addition to the family room!

It was a nice surprise that the finish of this cabinet matches the bookcases that I currently own. It's a beautiful cherry wood with nice simple black door handles. I love the molding as it adds a higher-end finishing touch to the cabinet. It is a little heavy - it took 2 adults to move it - so it should hold up well under normal use. This cabinet could be used in various ways. We plan to use it for Wii games, movies, and books. (I like the idea of using it for extra clothes or sheets/blankets.) My husband helped put this together along with my 2 children. It took us about an hour, but having put cabinets together similar to this in the past helped a lot! The instructions have pictures that you can see that help make assembly go smooth. I would have liked to see metal shelf pegs instead of the plastic ones that were included, so I may replace those in the future. The touch up marker that is included is helpful for the little scratches that will invariably happen. Already considering purchasing more for storage!

Tons of storage, easier to put together than expected

I love the finish of this cabinet: a beautiful, dark wood that looks really elegant and helps dress up a room. The architectural detail of the molding adds a nice flourish to the piece, though I'm kicking around replacing the knobs in the future with something a bit more one-of-a-kind to give the cabinet a bit more personality. It seems pretty sturdy (I definitely couldn't move it on my own and the hinge hardware seems good quality), so I hope that it will last us for awhile.

Plus, it's totally versatile: While we intend to use this in our bedroom for additional storage (especially for sweaters and other foldable items so that you can see everything in one go, rather than having to search through drawers), I could totally see using this in a living room for a small entertainment center (the doors open fully so you wouldn't have to worry about them getting in the way of TV-viewing) or in a dining room. You can fit quite a bit in this cabinet (it's like an extra closet!), which is why I might also look into trying to purchase additional shelves so our stacks of clothes don't get too unwieldy or out of control!

I was a little intimidated about having to put this cabinet together, but was pleasantly surprised when it only took an hour and a half to put together, thanks to some help from a friend. There was only one part of the instructions that wasn't 100% clear (we had to guess which way to position one board, whether the grain should go up or down, and had to correct it, although we fortunately hadn't gotten far when we realized our mistake). But once we made it past that part of the directions, it was smooth sailing and everything was easy to understand and put together. You definitely want to pay attention to the details in the instructions' drawings, especially during the first steps, but after those, it's pretty intuitive and comes together quickly.

Another thing I really appreciated about the cabinet is that it comes with a marker that matches the wood finish perfectly, so if you end up getting any scratches or bumps (as we did while we were putting it together, since it's just a foil finish), you can color over the area and it's hardly noticeable. I appreciate that they had the foresight to go on and include one so that I didn't have to go out and buy one on my own. It's handy to have around, just in case!
