I bought this because I was tired of fiddling with the slide-down mechanism on traditional tape measures when trying to measure out long stock on the miter saw. While I wish it was a Fat-Max for the extra rigidity, it's fine if the lumber is underneath it. It's inexpensive enough to keep a couple around for various workstations/saws/etc.
Have had this for a couple years. I love the fact that it is self locking, I hate it when you use a tape measure and it snaps back before you're ready. You have to push the button to make it come back. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I've used a number of different tapes over the years but always come back to the LeverLock. Speed of deployment and instant locking make this tape the fastest and easiest to use in the midst of doing other things. It doesn't have a super long standout, but that's because it's not super stiff like the tape a framer would use. This tape is multi use and is flexible enough for fine measurements. The lever grip is strong enough so the tape doesn't reel itself out when hanging down from the tip. (The 16' is, but the 25' could possibly use a stronger spring and the 30' definitely could) It's just plain fast and easy and the leverlock mechanism also allows you to effortlessly control the speed of retraction - which comes in handier than you might think.
