Sorry but you cannot. Your old unit uses dip switches to use a stationary code you program and the remote is a rolling code remote that is security plus. I imagine they are on different frequencies too. You will have to get one compatible with the opener or get an external receiver compatible with the remote to wire to the opener.

Go to searspartsdirect.com and enter in your model number and a parts list will come up with the correct replacement remote. Or get an external receiver that is compatible with a security plus remote. Thanks BB
