I've had this weight set for nearly 2 weeks now and I'm still as crazy about it as the day I got it. Everything that comes with it is extremely durable and versatile. The equipment that comes with the set can be used in SO many different exercises. The 5 foot bar from this set has have two safety pins hammered into it is used, but once it's assembled you'll see it's one of the best weight lifting bars out there. It's capable of holding not only the weights that come with the set but additional weight so you can continue to lift more weight and improve your strength with out having to buy another bar. Overall it is thee best weight set for the price.
I don't get it why a lot people think it is good. The weight plate is very bulky. The threaded part of the dumbbell handbar is just about 1cm longer than the thickness of 2 plate, which means if I put 2 plates at one side, I can not even screw the clamp for a whole round (360 degree), I don't think it is secure. The long bar is hollow which cannot be tell from picture, the wall of the hollow bar is not very thick and I think it could not hold too much weight. I was thinking I'll get this set as beginning and buy more weight plates when I need them, but with those bulky plates, it is not possible. The most a handbar can hold is 2 plates one side because of the thickness of the plates. I will return them, and I suggest you open the package at Sears pickup store and see if that's what you want, so that you do not need to carry them home and return them back later, the box are really heavy.
no instructions/ the weights fit tight like spoons if done right when put on bar / I got all 8 of them on bar with 4 1/4" of bar left over on each end. The bar is 5' long an weighs 6.2lbs the hand bars are 14" long an weigh 3,8lbs an only hold one weight on each end. Pack great / everything good as new. Nothing missing.
how I assemble the bar= slide the two ends together [they have holes drilled in them] make sure holes line up [had to file one of mine] put vise-grip on black peg 1/8" away from one end of peg then put in hole then remove an beat it in until flush on both sides. Oil the bar all but 2' of one end & oil black tube inside the hole/ one person grab the dry end of the bar you grab the black tube and twist as you slide together. If you have to beat it on use a peace of wood on top of plastic tube an tap with hammer. Once past metal end take the screw from the bar collar then tap the collar until the black tube shows equal amounts of metal bar on both ends about 13 1/8" on both sides / clean with soap an water then rubbing alcohol.
OIL = motor oil- cooking oil- Vaseline [not wd40 nothing with water in it]
