Old school iron

Here's some of the details not advertised: contains the following plates: 2 x 25 lb, 4 x 10 lb, 6 x 5 lb, 6 x 2.5 lb The distance between the inside of the two fixed collars on the barbell is 45.5 inches. For the dumbbells, given the plates provided in the set, the heaviest pair of dumbbells you can get is 40 lbs each. However, that requires using the 10 lb plates which are kind of bulky on the dumbbells given the 10 lb plates wide diameter. Keep in mind, if you want to acquire more 5 lb plates for the dumbbells, I don't think you can physically put more than four of these 5 lb plates on each end of the dumbbell bars and have the collars screw on fully. But overall I really like the set and I'm having a lot of fun working out with it. I've only had it two days and I think I'm already getting buff.

product received did not match description

Received 15 lb bar instead of 25 lb described in description. Working to exchange but this hassel given the weight of product and came in 3 different packages. Label on bar box has correct model but weight is in kg so it wasn't overt during pick up at store but didn't seem right so I converted and came out to 15bs thn I put on scale sue enough its 15 lbs. Called SEARS customer service but no help, service appears to be in India. Need to work with store to get correct bar shipped, will work that but it is very inconvenient. Bar was manufactured and shipped from China, looks like either poor process control in China or they cheated SEARS and consumer. Pkg has the 160 lb model but looks like SEARS did not match the weight of part. Also had broken weight that was caught upon pick up at store and mgr was great at swapping that out. Of course if one weight is defective there is possibility other bad parts in set. Wish I would have caught the bar discrepancy at store. Received 135 lbs of 160 lb set.Wish customer service would have resolved over phone instead of having me order replacement from store and delaying use of product and causing my loss of time.

It works but its not great...

|

So this does get the job done 100% and I do like the amount of weight that comes with it for the price. The downside of this product is when you put the plates on the dumbbell or barbell and tighten them, as you workout the plates loosen up and you have to keep tightening them. Its not a huge deal but it is rather annoying to only do one rep and have to tighten everything back up. You could workout with them loose still, but form is everything and it can throw off your form a tad. Due to the amount I paid for these I will still use them and make it work. Buying them used from somone else typically means you will get some rust, the condition of this set is great, and it does seem like they will at least last some time!

Purchased this as a Christmas gift and was very disappointed when I picked it up. Boxes were torn in poor condition. Just realized Im missing 2 spin locks. Was supposed to receive 6 and only have 4.
