I already had a couple 15 lb dumbbells, and I wanted to add heavier weights to my collection. The casting of the Weider dumbbell is a bit rough, but frankly, I don't really care. The weight is pretty accurate (at least according to my scale), and the grip is nice. Since I bought the 20lb Weider dumbbell at a heck of a good discount (I think it was about half off), I've got no complaints! Too bad they only had one left in stock when I really wanted two....
I purchased two of these items because the price. I ordered them on line. I believed that all I had to do was to pick them up at the service counter. Truth be told, I could have purchased them at the store eaiser and faster than on line. The items presented to me at the service counter were mis-matched...were two different colors. I did ask if I could go pick out two more similar or matching colors/products. When I got them home, a closer look reveled poor welds with sharp edges. Having Joe Weider's name on a product does not indicate quality or attention to detail. “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” – Benjamin Franklin
Quality Control is Lacking. Appears to be used, not new. Furthermore, Warehouse supervisor cannot read? Why make the customer pay any more money at all because it's Sears who erroneously shipped me this dumbell (not the dumbell I'd ordered) but cheaper dumbell with inferior design. Sears Customer Service is it fair to ask the customer to incur any more costs for a Sears' error? Careless and unethical Warehouse Supervisor failed to check to ensure correct product was shipped to me. No excuse because the correct item# on invoice doesn't match the dumbell shipped! Why did you ship 20 LB metal dumbell when I'd ordered 25 LB Rubberized dumbell? Can you tell the difference between rubber and metal?! Can you tell the difference between 25 LBS and 20 LBS?! I was on the phone for 1 Hour+16 minutes with Sears and promised me an email to have UPS pickup wrong dumbell shipped. No email was sent!!! FYI Sears sent this dumbell because the better dumbell I'd ordered is out of stock. Bad business!!!
The weights are, what I paid for. They feel good, using them.
