When I saw this at my local Sears I fell in love immediately. Previously I had a Gold's Gym XRS 20 squat/bench rack. And a seperate Gold's Gym power tower. I got rid of both but kept the gold's gym bench to go with this rack. I saved a ton of space with this unit. I've been lifting seriously for exactly 1 year now. I would consider myself an intermediate lifter. This rack is for an intermediate lifter. It could be great for a beginner also but beginners should avoid isolation movements which the cables are great for. The install was rather simple. Took me 2 hours from start to finish. I have a battery powered impact gun plus a huge matco tool set. Pay attention to the install pictures the first time to save some trouble. Flaws: Where you bolt in the pull up bar, The bolts cave in the structure. The gauge of the frame is weak at this point. So be careful when torquing this spot down. The frame could be a bit more rigid with thicker gauge steel. When I'm doing pull ups I get a little bit of movement in the frame. This is with 200lbs on the weight holders also. I am 6'4 205lbs. The movement is a LOT better with this rack vs the power tower that I sold :) The only thing this is missing is the ability to do cable crossovers and dips! Pros: You get a lot for a little amount of space. The cable system is great! Dozens and dozens of workout variations with this. The rack is setup for Olympic bar lifts! Great for squats if you're very tall. At 6'4 i'm using the 2nd to the top notch to hold the bar. I'd imagine someone who is 7ft could use this. The rack just looks cool. If I was any taller then some cable exercises might not work to my advantage. I focus on compound movements with heavy dumbbells and barbell so I might get 0-2 cable exercises per workout session.
I purchased the product online, and couple of hrs later recieved an email for pick up. I arrived to merchandise pickup, waited over an hr, the staff could not find my order. They took my name and phone number and never called me. The following Monday, I returned only to be told, they gave the order to another customer and I would have to wait 2 wks for another item to arrive. I got a refund. Also, the customer service at your Corpus Christi store is very unsatisfactory, the sales staff ignore customers and are hardly ever at the assigned locations. Customers just walk around looking for help. Never again, never. If I could get no stars, I would.
It is a great piece of equipment. I have owned one for 5 years. The one I just purchased is for my gym in my 2nd home in North Carolina. One is guaranteed a superb upper body and leg workout with this cage. It is durable for the price and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in shape through weight training.
